Product Care

Wood Products

Your new pen is made from natural wood. As with any wood product, some care must be taken to maintain the beauty and the structural integrity of the item.

DO NOT leave your pen in the car. The temperature extremes experienced in a car can damage or destroy your writing instrument. Treat it as you would any fine, delicate instrument. Although it can withstand a lifetime of use it will not tolerate abuse.

DO NOT use cleaning fluids or any abrasive substance (car wax) on any part of your new writing instrument. The fluids and/or abrasives will damage the fine finish.

Do care for your writing instrument the way you would any fine wooden product. Protect it with a light coat of good furniture paste wax designed for wooden products.  After proper drying, buff with a soft, clean cloth.

Do keep your pen from extremes of heat and cold. Both are enemies of wood. Some woods are very temperature sensitive and may split or develop cracks from extremes of heat and cold. Protect it and it will deliver years of service.

Do use your pen. It is designed to be written with, not placed in a drawer.

Acrylic Pen Care

The Acrylics used in our products are manmade products.

These materials are more tolerant to extreme heat & cold and therefore more stable in these conditions. However DO NOT drop your pen, these materials are more brittle and can crack or chip if dropped.

Do use plastic polish to revive the luster.  Also a quality rubbing compound can buff out light scratches.

Refill Instructions

Cross®-style refill pens

Cross®-style refills are replaced by carefully separating the top section from the bottom section. These two sections pull apart. The old ink refill is removed by unscrewing it from the refill holder. Discard the old refill and replace it with a new one. The new one is screwed in place into the refill holder. Then, carefully push the top section onto the bottom section.

Parker®-style refill pens

Parker®-style refills are replaced by unscrewing the top and bottom sections of the pen at the middle (or very near the middle) in a counter-clockwise fashion until the two pieces separate. The refill then slides out of the lower portion of the pen. BE CAREFUL TO KEEP THE SPRING THAT IS ON THE REFILL. Remove the spring from the used refill and discard the old refill. Place the spring on a new refill and slide the unit into the bottom section of the pen. On some Parker®-style "click" pens, there is also a small chrome spacer that sits on top of the refill. This piece must be moved to the new refill when replacing. BE CAREFUL NOT TO LOSE IT. Gently press the two halves together and screw them together in a clockwise fashion until just snug. Do NOT over-tighten.

Mechanical Pencil

To retract the lead, simply hold down on the feed plunger and push the lead in. To refill the pencil, remove the plunger end cap and eraser. Load the tube using either .5 or .7 mm lead. Replace the eraser and the cap. Click the plunger until lead appears.

First aid for the pencil (clogged lead - will not feed): Unscrew nose cone, remove pencil mech. Empty lead from the tube. Stand tube upside down on a hard surface push down on spring loaded tip and use the eraser wire or straight pen to push out the jammed lead.

5.6mm pencil refills

5.6mm pencil leads are available in black as well as a wide variety of colors from your local art supply stores.  To refill, simply press the top of the pen, opening up the jaws at the point.  Remove the existing lead and slide a new piece in to the appropriate length.  Release the top to secure the lead in place.
